Good morning, staff and students of Luzhou High School,

   I have never seen so many students together in one place. It is an incredible sight and we feel honoured to be here attending this flag-raising ceremony with you.

   The teachers and students from the Piggott School England are looking forward to spending this week with your school community.

   You have a beautiful school campus and we have been enjoying sharing your facilities and your kindness. We can see how well you care for your environment.

We have already seen how dedicated you are to your studies with your long school day and lessons at weekends which you don’t mind because you know how important it is to secure a bright future for yourselves.

  Your country is very fortunate to have so many intelligent young minds in the making. You show that you take full responsibility for your future and are not prepared to settle for second best. There are values we also share. We too want to be the best we can be.

   Some aspects of our countries (China and England) are food, culture, language and education system. We are here so that English and Chinese students and teachers can learn from each other. We are here to develop further the friendship between our schools which began in 2004.

  Everyone here from the Piggott School is impressed by the excellent standard of your English language. You are a credit to your teachers. They must be very proud of you. We have seen your passion for the subject and your desire to improve. We share this desire with you.

  We would very much like to learn as much about your culture as possible in the short time we are here. This is our first visit to China and you are making us feel very welcome.

  Over the last two days we have explored your campus and had a wonderful time meeting you. We have had a small taste of your city which has been fascinating. We will spend the next two days with you in school and will be taking part in your lessons. Thank you so much for this opportunity and if you see us do come and say hello.
